meet gary sabin

Chief Sabin is a 27-year veteran of the Fire Service. He began his career as a Fire Cadet in 1995. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy as a firefighter where he was able to teach shipboard and aviation firefighting techniques to other military members along with other countries Navy’s while on deployment. After completion of his service, he returned home and became a volunteer firefighter and took his first full-time firefighter position in 2005. Chief Sabin has been with Rock Creek Fire Protection District since 2012, where he served as a part-time firefighter and EMS training officer while working full-time as an EMT with Magic Valley Paramedics. In 2014, he was hired as a full- time firefighter with Rock Creek and has promoted through the ranks. In 2026, Chief Sabin was promoted to Division Chief of Training. Chief Sabin is an Idaho State EMS Instructor, AHA CPR Instructor, Idaho State Fire Instructor and IFSAC Proctor/Evaluator for the state. Chief Sabin has received IFSAC certification up to Fire Officer 2 and is a NWCG certified Taskforce Leader and Incident Commander Type 4. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, camping and fishing with his wife Michelle, and son Colton. Chief Sabin is a resident of Kimberly.
